The Navajo Nation Zoo hosted its FOURTH Annual ZooBOO! event on October 27, 2012. This event was designed to provide a free, fun, and safe place for everyone to celebrate Halloween and the change of seasons. Like all previous events, admission and all the activities were FREE for everyone.
We are proud to say that this year's ZooBOO! was very successful. The Zoo hosted almost 3,000 people between 9am and 5pm. One of the highlights of ZooBOO! is the costume contest, which had a record turnout of 350 participants.
Zoo Events are aimed to please children. This event had their all-time favorites, including: inflatable slide and jumphouse; face-painting, balloon animals, coloring pages, basketball and beanbag toss games. Since bead-crafts were such a success at ZooFest, we allowed children to make beaded Halloween crafts. Cool!
A photo booth introduced last year was done bigger-and-better this year. We allowed families to have their picture taken in front of a Halloween scene, and we provided them a free 4x6 to take home as a keepsake. The Zoo also awarded every 20th person through the door with a free pumpkin, and a carving station to make a jack-o-lantern..
This year we introduced a local performer, Jerrickson Hosteen, to wow the crowd with
his amazing skills with the basketball. And many thanks to our sponsors of First Things First and PlayTime; and our volunteers, especially those from the National Indian Youth Leadership Project in Gallup NM.
Because of the large attendance and success of this event, we are looking forward to next year's FIFTH ANNUAL ZOOBOO!, tentatively scheduled for October 26th, 2013. |
